The Kiwanis Club of Sun City West, AZ was chartered in 1979 to promote the mission of Kiwanis International (www.kiwanis.org) which is to “improve the lives of children one community at a time.” The Club presently works with the Nadaburg Unified School District, several charter schools as well as Morristown Elementary School. The Club provides them with specialized leadership programs as well as contributes to a number of non-profit organizations that serve the needs of children. Some of those organizations include The Salvation Army, Beads of Courage, B.A.C.A. (Bikers Against Child Abuse), Del Webb Hospital’s Emergency Pediatric Department and Steps of Love. The Club funds Morristown’s weekend food program and provides schools with needed COVID-19 supplies that include disinfectant wipes, plastic desk dividers, masks, bottles of hand sanitizers and other essential supplies. The Sun City West Kiwanis Foundation 501(c)3 raises funds for these donations through the holiday sale of See’s Candy, and its annual Pancake Breakfast, which has been postponed until 2023 due to COVID-19 related concerns. (Want to know more...click on About) On a broader scale, the Club partners with Kiwanis International and UNICEF on two world-wide projects – elimination of iodine deficiency disorders and maternal neonatal tetanus. The Club raised over $33,000 for Kiwanis International's Maternal Neonatal Tetanus project.
